I loved the line in "The Jerk". "It was never easy for me...." I grew up in an area where little black children and little white children went to school together; but, we were segregated within the towns in which we lived. There was the so-called "upper" and "lower" parts of towns. You can figure for yourself in which parts the little white children and the little black children lived. It was the 60s and 70s. * I do thank God, however, that the state of West Virginia separated from the state of Virginia, and fought on the side of the north during civil war times. I won't say more about the wars between the north and south beyond this. By the time I got to highschool, I had many black friends. We had grown up in school together. I really didn't see any difference in us all. Really. My highschool was small; I think if memory serves me, about 500 students in all. Approximately 75% of those students were black. We never had issues. We were all like family. It was cool. Today, when I opened my email, this advertisement awaited me. Quite funny, and simply beautiful... |
