I visited one of several favorite sites I read regularly, which linked me to another post on the subject of the Ted Haggard misfortune. I believe this gentleman's entry, entitled "All Too Human", to be noteworthy. It may interest some of you. These were my comments (with additives here, of course) in reply to that post:

This is a most excellent post. Very educated thoughts as well as soulful expression of the empathy one human SHOULD have for another.

Sadly, this sort of thing happens to those Christians whom, for whatever reason, live most of their lives with such rigid and legalistic views of Christianity, they become smothered; failing to see the "big picture", if you will.

I believe for this kind of person, a "fall from grace", so to speak, is quite necessary in order that they might really learn; legalism had no place in the life of Christ.

*Beware of people who advertise their Christianity on t-shirts, bumper stickers, and the like. Those people also broadcast much with their mouths concerning their own Christianity. It is usually these same types, who will use the "N" word whenever they see a black man; they will be the troublemakers in their own church; they will "do good" for their neighbor and then talk about them profainly.

The man or woman, not a regular church-goer, who wraps a $20.00 bill inside a pack of gum and hands it over the backyard fence to his needy neighbor without a word to his/her own family of it, is the Christian I want to pattern my life after...
