My painting, and my life will be on hold for the next couple hours or so. Sam and I are getting ready to go to the urinologist for another check on his prostrate, and to see how his blood work from his physical exam turned out.

My father used to always say, "it doesn't matter what kind of home you live in, or how much money you have; if you don't have your health, you have nothing." How very true.

My hurry with the painting, I think, has been about trying to keep busy while thinking positively, that everything is gonna' come out ok at the Dr.'s office today. Keep my Sam in your prayers out there...Hugs.

May the evening be full of "thankful" children knocking upon your doors.

May the witches' brew not include eye of toad.

May all the candy left over, be your favorites.

May your "moonshine" be pure.

Get this shit. Sam and I went for a ride with my mom and step-dad, on the Blue Ridge Parkway today. We had a nice lunch and afterwards, visited Nancy's Candy Co. where my mom and I endulged ourselves (pun intended) in the purchases of orange jellies, orange and lemon creams, rum balls, and fudge. I bought an excellent bag of Nancy's double-dipped chocolate covered cranberries. Wow, are they great! I am getting off course here.

We left home around noon today. We arrived back home at around 5pm. I then proceeded to drive up town to purchase milk, bread, and my gorgeous steeple paint; along with a new rolling pan and a plastic drop sheet to protect the carpeting in our computer room. Do you know what happened next? You got it. When I got back home from the store, I turned off and unplugged the ole' PC, dropped the plastic, stirred the paint, and dug in! I finished the area all around where my computer sits just minutes ago. Of course, everything about my PC is reconnected correctly or I wouldn't be posting now--but you knew that. A little manic? I dunno'; I think I was just so anxious to get this project started after choosing my color. I still have the rest of the room to go, but I got a great head-start. After all, I hadn't intended to even buy the paint until morning. I'm crazy and sooo very excited about this color and the prospects of this room becoming a more enjoyable little haven. I do spend lots of time here.

Think I'd best get some sleep if I can...Night all.

Only a fool such as I would be continuing painting projects so close to the holidays! The bathroom connected to our bedroom has been finished for several weeks. It is a blue-lavender shade (Sam said, "I told you it was") after all. It is nice. Now I am planning to start doing something with this computer room. I have chosen a shade of green that is absolutely beautiful for this room. It is called "steeple green".

I will begin this room tomorrow, as I have tomorrow off work because I am going to visit a urology specialist with Sam, and his appointment is not until later in the day. He went for his yearly physical and the Dr. found a nodule on his prostrate. Your prayers that this thing is benign would be much appreciated. We are nervous.

This steeple green is actually a lovely shade. When I am finished, I will adorn the one window I have in this room with the gorgeous and expensive lace panels I haven't used in awhile. The green is darker and I will need to contrast with lighter accents throughout the room. I am excited. Green is actually my favorite color. I love various deep shades of the color.

All I want now is a digital camera; soz I can take some decent shots of the place when I'm all done. Want to share my handiwork with ya'. Anybody feelin' generous? It's almost Christmas ya' know...

View Article  Uhm, Excuse Me Sam--Not So Funny

So we had a lovely time on our anniversary outting a couple weeks ago. We stayed in an award-winning hotel. Everything was so spotless, I felt I needed a bath when I arrived there, after the shower I had already taken before we left home. We went to a really nice steakhouse for dinner. Everything was great! The next morning, I stumbled out of bed at around 6:30ish hungry for the breakfast the hotel had to offer. Thought I'd start the day off with a nice healthy hard boiled egg because I really love them. I popped the thing in the microwave for no more than 20 seconds of course, just as the note on the door of the microwave advised. I proceeded to cut open an english muffin, and I think I got something to drink. When I took the egg out of the microwave, it felt warm; just right, in fact. Without thinking at all, I brought the little egg to my lips and opened my mouth. Having bitten into the thing, "pop"!!! Steam was released onto my lips with a fury. For the rest of the morning, I sat with my upper lip soaking in a very cold cup of milk. There were only a couple gentlemen in the breakfast area at the time, and I made no sound. I didn't want to draw any attention to the stupid thing I had done to myself.

Here is the short conversation that took place between Sam and myself about an hour ago:

Me: I don't want that left-over pizza.

Sam: Fix yourself something else then; I already ate half of that pizza, it wasn't bad.

Me: (not even thinking of my little mishap of 2 weeks ago) I think I'd like to make myself some nice toast and a couple hard-boiled eggs.

Sam: Ha!

Me: You kiss my ass!

Upon reflection of the critique of someone whose writing skills I admire immensely, I have revised a bit of my previous entry, entitled "Where I'm From". I am so grateful for folks out there who will give an honest critique of something when asked. I believe as writers, we can all use the good opinions of those writers whom we admire. Thank you. You know who you are.

I am often very "wordy" with my writing. I want to keep your attention. I hope you will come to this site to relax and enjoy any good words I may have to offer. This blogging is for me to have an opportunity to express myself freely. If I can develop my writing skills as well, my time here is valuable.

I'm off to work at the ole' Shady Un-Rest again. It's raining cats and dogs out there. Geez, I hate to go out on this kind of day. I would much rather snuggle up with a good book or movie and stay in. Oh well, it's time to hit the rusty dusty....
